i was scared that the cold weather would scare people way from photoshoots, but it turns out that it hasn't scared but a few! and the Jones family happen to be some of the unafraid! this last sunday morning i headed out to Kernersville to shoot with the wonderful Jones! though the snow made the trip out to their house a bit more difficult, the snow proved to be a lot of fun with our shoot!

snow, in december, in north carolina, the week before christmas! dude, how exciting is this?!

so my snowed in house is the wheelers, so i spent the night here when the snow started. and we got like 6 inches! so our snow day turned out to be AMAZING!

look out world! the bray family has officially hit the web! it's probably taken a million years! but its here! one of the cutest family portrait sessions in the whole world! this is an amazing family, one of the most amazing family's you'll ever meet. and aimee just happens to be one of the most amazing people in the world as well! i can't really explain how lucky i am to even know them, but i'm really glad that i do.

i really hope everyone out there had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday! our thanksgiving ended up being pretty beautiful. my family and my best friend traveled to wilmington, NC to spend thanksgiving with my beach family. who are all just hick enough to park all over the front lawn...

okay world, the bramblett bunch is finally here! i feel like it's taken forever for this family to come to the blog, but really. it hasn't. maybe it was just how excited tonya and the family was to get their pictures! and who can blame them? i know i'd be dying to see pictures of myself and family as well! so we shot their family session around their home close to rockingham NC. such an amazingly cute family!

are you ready for this? family number three as of late.

i can't even start to explain to you what the Wheeler family means to me. best friends are words that don't even amount to what each of the members of this family are to me. john, james, grace, brody and emma are like siblings, but some how, even more than that. and angela is like a second mother, but again, that doesn't even say enough for her. they are one of the strongest family i know, and the saying that blood runs thicker than water, definitely applies to them. though when they adopt you to be part of their family, your blood becomes their blood, and when you bleed, they bleed with you.

hollllly crrrrap!

i got to shoot an amazing family shoot last week! holly and troy are the youth pastors at my church in greensboro, Calvary Church. holly also happens to be one of my best friends! and troy is kinda like a second father. im so thankful to have the pair of them in my life. they really hold me up when i need it, and holly is as crazy about fine arts and drama as i am! they have one very adorable song named jeremiah who is 11, and a beautiful blond blab named nala. such an amazingly bright family full of joy, check out some of my favorite shots of the day:

so last week i got to shoot a portrait session with my little brother, josiah.

we headed out around greensboro and shot some pictures that my mom requested, and we went out and took some skate boarding shots :) too fun.

so during/along with tim's senior pictures we shot some family portraits, minus the two boys since they were running track. so the portraits turned out to be martha and the parents portraits :)

im so excited to say i finally have emily's senior portraits up!

i was totally honored and blessed when i was asked by the Fischer family to school my "little sister" emily's senior pictures. her family made a special trip from Georgia all the way back here to NC for the shoot, and i couldn't be more glad that they did! emily is such and awesome person, and i'm so glad i got to shoot with her!

we shot most of emily's pictures in down town Kerversville, NC. such a cute place! then fore some scenic pictures we headed out into Stokesdale for a few shots! over all, her shoot was a total blast!

em's got mad jumps!

there was an awesome music store in down town k-ville that had a mock abbey road panting on the back of the building. and emily just happens to be a HUGE beatles fan! so we thought this was cute.

then she got her rock star on by playing air guitar for me!

so i had the opportunity last week to shoot Tim Upper's senior pictures! woo.

we had a blast, Tim is a senior at Caldwell Acadamy and is on the cross country team so we started off his senior session by shoot some of his last track meet.

after hanging out with tim's family at his meet, we shot some great pictures in downtown greensboro, where we just happened to find this really awesome random couch, and great red trees!:

so on the 10th of october we got to celebrate the marriage on ally and enan!

they got married at a small venue called The Balcony in Munford, Tennessee.

some friends of mine and i drove down on thursday afternoon and spent the weekend there, we had a blast getting to know new people that we can now call family. everyone was super sweet, and we also got a chance to head down into Memphis for a bit on friday, and go shopping.

the wedding day was supposed to be all rainy, but we were very lucky and ended up with no water falling from the sky at all :) the day was such a world wind of excitement and emotion, i just tried my best to capture all the fun and joy of the day as it FLEW by.

enan is in the navy, he didn't dress out for the wedding, but her guarder was all for him ;) and we did bring his hate along for fun.

holly, troy and their son jeremiah traveled with matt, mark and i from NC for the wedding. we had so much fun! troy officiated the wedding and holly and jeremiah just had fun 'gettin downn' at the reception!

last saturday i was blessed with the opportunity to hang out with the Harrells on a beautiful fall morning!

sara's family just happens to be one of the most BEAUTIFUL family's in the whole world!

i was so nervous about shooting one of the people that taught me to shoot, but we ended up having a blast! we started out by hanging out out on the farm for a bit.

i never really got a chance to blog during my internship this summer, but this last week i was day dreaming about my spring/summer and i couldn't help but be completely overwhelmed with a sense of blessing. this summer was the most interesting, exciting, challenging, heart breaking, joyful, funny, meaningful, and the most intense growing experience of my whole life. i can honestly say i learned more working with the girls from Whitebox this summer, and had some of the most amazing experiences and chances, than i've had in a very long time.

i was thinking back over it, and i got a chance to do all sorts of things, from helping shoot the amazing Henley Family at their home in greensboro...

to playing with puppies in atlanta and kayaking across the chattahoochee river...

to helping to shoot kristin and scott's beautiful nc outer banks wedding where we stayed with the amazing Brook Mayo in her awesome beach house that you have to go 4-wheel driving on the beach to get to! ...

to helping shoot the beautiful Khirbi Kids in downtown greensboro...

to hanging out with the beautiful wright family down by the chattahoochee..

to helping Mel shoot for Thomas School Buses for an Our State shoot where we got to learn all about how they make the buses! and got to wear cool clothes, haha...

to soaring to new heights with the Tilly Family in greensboro...

to getting to celebrate with jen and yen, in durham nc, and getting to shoot with them in the beautiful duke gardens...

to having some fun with the beautiful Hawkins Family in Georgia...

there were so many more things and shoots i got to help with than just these, but no matter what i got to do this summer with Whitebox, it changed my life and shaped my as a person just a little bit more. i'm blessed to have gotten to work, and train with such talented photographers as Sara and Mel. no matter if i was playing with my feet in the water at the lake house, to sweating up a storm shooting in down town charlotte, to spray painting letters and helping remodel the studio, everything i got to do helped set me up for quickly upcoming future. i seriously couldn't have asked for a better internship, and getting to call them a second family. such a blessing. seriously. i thank God every day for the people he keeps putting in my life. i just don't think it could get much better.

misty + adams big day went BEAUTIFULLY! they had a small wedding with family and close friends in Florida, and are having two public receptions in their home towns. the day was so chill, we just had fun hanging out at the big beautiful beach house and then getting ready. it was just a beautiful day!

rebekah and morgan celebrated their special day in the beautiful mountains of Independence, VA at the gorgeous Ward Manor...

hannah and i were so excited to be part of such a beautiful day!

so rebekah and morgan used wine corks to stand up their place cards and they handed out fans with the wedding programs attached to them since it was an out door wedding. so cute!

the day that started out rainy turned out to be a wonderful day to get married, right in the middle of the mountains.

so, first we found an old school bus!

board for the Lord

so a while back, i posted some images of the "GreensBros."

well. some of the crew has decided to Board for the Lord. alex, james, john, cody, blake, rider, and ethan will be longboarding from Greensboro, NC to Wilmington, NC, starting this coming monday, june 29 - july 3. the boys are skating in order the raise money for the upcoming New York City missions trip. The trip is the last week of July into the first of August. the boys are asking for people to sponsor them per mile they skate. they boys are trying hard to get the word out and have now been featured on the front cover of the Northwest Observer, and the Greensboro New & Record and and had a piece run on WFMY News 2 last night.

the boys are doing this for an amazing cause. if you feel up to sponsoring one of the boys, you can contact Daystar Christian Fellowship @ 545-8806.

a few weeks ago the boys and i set up two separate photo shoots for Board for the Lord. one on a friday evening around sunset, and one the following morning during sunrise. and can i just tell you, sunrise shoots, even if you have to meet before five in the morning, are the most fun. ever. here are a few more photos from the shoot that the NW Observer didn't run.

im so far behind in blogging! life has been SO overwhelming lately! it has been amazing, but busy. so i have a moment to breathe today. so i figured id blog, but then i realized i haven't blogged anything lately! so i figured i'd start with the old then move to the new. so here are some images from a shoot about a million years ago! zac & alaina are some of my most favorite models so here are some from the shoot with the two of them.

they were such a joy to shoot. they have amazing spirits and great willingness. they were modeling for a project for me for my internship. they were awesome. we had so much fun!

so. i've officially started my internship with whitebox for school.

i'm so excited to be working with sara and mel. they are seriously a blessing. but, since the girls are out of town right now, they gave me some assignments to work on while they're gone. one of which was to shoot a portrait session using only a wide angle lens. so my beautiful friend carson agreed to model for me while i shot with a 17-40mm (keeping it 35mm or wider, i promise sara) and we totally had a blast.

these are just a few of the shots we ended up with. carson and i ventured downtown for quite some time, just enjoying the weather and having fun. i love her to death and i can't thank her enough for being such and amazing joy to be around, and thank her for giving up her saturday for my project :)

i have two friends, and they both have AMAZING eyes. like... no. really. amazing.

and... they're both boys.

the gold eye is cody bishoff's, and the blue eye is james wheeler's. the have, blow you away, strong eyes. so beautiful. i seriously couldn't ask for prettier friends. or more willing. i say that all the time. but, honestly, they are so willing. any time of day, they're there if i need them. i couldn't ask for anything better :)

i'm not really sure where to start... cause, i'm not really sure where this obsession started.

the boys im friends with have started longboarding. i mean... all the time.

their brains have become consumed with it. every free moment. even if it's freezing cold. they're always longboarding. learning new tricks and making new videos. they've even come up with a name for themselves...

that's right, they are the GreensBros :)

so anyway... i though it was cute and decided to shoot some quick outdoor personality portraits of each of them to give them something to go by!

so these are the GreensBros.

i love them all dearly. truly. even the ones i hardly know. more than anything, i love their drive, and passion. they're always wanting to teach you what they know. they're fairly good at what they do (and by fairly, i mean some of them could owwwwnnnn on those things) and they're always willing to pause, let you jump on their personal board, hold your hand, and help you down the street. they love what they do, and their capacity for love doesn't end there, their love for God and for the people He placed in their lives is overwhelmingly powerful. i dare anyone to try to get to know them, and hate them, because it's simply impossible.

so if you're ever hanging out around greensboro, down town, or UNCG, and you see a group with longboards, just shout out something about the GreensBros, i'm sure they'd be more than willing shout back :)

the most wonderfully beautifully weekend in like, oh, a million years.

i do think its a sign that on the first warm day of the year, in the middle of february, that all of greensboro was breaking out the shorts and flip flops. it's just like everyday they wake up holding them, just waiting for the moment that they can put them on and go out and play. just shows how no one in NC likes the cold.

alright, for macro this week, i found this to-go food box full of bulbs. different kind of flower bulbs.

they kind of look like baby onions with funny looking roots coming out of the bottom, but less smelly, trust me.

anyway, i shot this with digital, on my nikon with the macro 105mm and the extension tube.

i really liked the crazy depth of field, i played around for a while on where to put the sharp focus, but really ended up liking this shot the best.

so, i've written about cody before, who is in the top right of the group picture. and how amazing cody is. what a little fighter he his, and how he's totally sold out for God. well. let me introduce you to chelsey. chelsey is getting ready to be a freshman in high school this upcoming school year, so as a kind of "graduation gift" from greensboro academy, her parents wanted to put together a yearbook page for her. so they gave me a ton of pictures to choose from, and e-mailed me what they wanted to say to her, and i put it together for her.

it's pretty simple, but totally fits her personality, which is totally what i was going for.

chelsey is my little cheerleader. she is a blessing in my life. i've already told cody many times, he's going to have to keep an eye on her, because she's going to be one heck of a heart breaker. chelsey not only cheers, but she acts, and she defiantly one of my favorites (shhh, don't tell the others) on my drama team. she's creative, and wonderful. and i love her with my whole heart. i pray for her on the daily, that she will keep growing in her love for God, and that she would be yet another light in a dark world, and she would shine bright as she enters northwest high school. she is such a joy to so many, i pray high school is simply another place, and another opportunity for her to change lives and be a blessing to a whole new group of people. :) love you, bby.

i haven't shot anything for macro on digital...in...well. only one of my images have been digital.

which makes me really really quite happy. i know i've said that before, but really, im so glad to have to shoot film. theres just something about having it there, in front of you, and you can hold it in your hands. mmmmm. its happy like warm cookies (which my friend carson told me she'd make me some... just by the way.)

so lets talk about old school :) haha. literally.

i have an interview on monday for a possible internship and so i've been digging through pictures of the past year to put together in a portfolio to take them. which took me back in time.

it's amazing how long ago first year feels, when really... it was only a year ago.

so these are some of my images from second semester. it's amazing how much i miss these images, or just feeling like i have the time to be creative again. sometimes i feel like we go so fast now, i hardly have time to even think, much less get a couch into the middle of a street.

but i do love some of my first year images, it was nice to have an excuse to take some time out and look at them again.

so for macro this week, i decided to work with some paint!

it made me feel like i was in kindergarten all over again! woo.

cept... i never actually went to kindergarten... woops.

anyway, paints really fun to play with, one cause its so shinny! the specular highlights you get out of paint is crazy awesome. plus, its so colorful. i can't help but smile when i look at it. and the depth of field is awesome, cause everything lies on a different plain with paint. just too much fun.

so... this is a really crappy cell phone picture. but. its just too cute.

my friends family, the kinds, have two female lab mixes. and every year... they both have puppies.

most of the time in the spring. but. this year. they started early. and i love puppies!

over the early summer last year, they both had puppies... and there were a ton of them, and we all got to be there the afternoon they were born, and then the day they opened their eyes the first time. i just love puppies! they're such a blessing. hopefully we find all of these ones good homes, and come up with more happy names. :)

so this... is the last 8 weeks of classes for the bio kids. its a little sad...

but. were taking a macro class. which... is pretty much awesome.

we're required to learn macro on chrome, as well as digital. so... these are a few or my chrome images from our first week in Irene's class. pretty exciting. everyones work turned out really good this week.

wooo, macro. it's totally inspiring to have to really look at stuff in life. like get down to the nitty gritty - i even look at dirt a little different now. macro makes you not want to take God's creation for granted, ever.

also, its nice being required to shoot film again, i tend to shoot everything digital, just for speed, but its nice to have to do film. it makes me want to do it more often again. :)

so... tuesday is like monday for the bio kids, since we don't have classes on monday this 8 weeks. but that makes it hard for us to get into working on tuesdays. so... while we were having a fairly rough morning.. i opened up photo booth to try and brighten up our day. who knew it would be an hours worth of distraction almost? ha.

so bonnie decided to come take some pictures with ryan and i!

swimming in november.

in november we decided to take OFY on a fall retreat. so we went up to camp lurecrest, and they said that we were the only group they'd ever had come out that late in the year, which was very obvious by the fact that only two in twenty cabins were heated. despite the first frigid night, saturday, durning the day was about 20 degrees warmer. still not warm, but it must of been somewhere close to 50, which felt nice at that point.

being fall, close to winter, the camp had shut down and drained the pool. i got so excited when i saw the pool on friday night in the dark that i jumped on the idea of getting inside of it and taking pictures, and the guy that owned the camp was nice enough to let my friend alaina and i in to do a shoot on saturday afternoon.

so, a little background on alaina. she's basically amazing. her sister, alexa, actually just graduated from school here with me in july. i have been lucky enough to know they're family for a bit longer than that, though. she is one of like... 13 in their whole family. and they're all pretty amazing people. alaina is graduating highschool this year, along with meghan and cody. i'm so thankful for her, and her pure heart, and pure beauty.

i love her way more than she'll ever be able to understand.

it's last real week of school before christmas break, and everyones loosing their minds. for real, it's been pretty intense around the computer and print labs in the last couple of days. portfolio, final projects and exams have taken everyones stress up about.. oh... 100 notches. but it's been exciting to say the least. if my friend cody were in our class he'd simply say, "IT'S GAME DAY, BABY! LETS GO. get wrecked, son!"

cody gets fairly pumped under pressure, and about things he's passionate about.

cody ended up being my model for my long term project for my portrait class, and we had a ton of fun shooting. cody is one of those people that laughs, and you can't help but laugh along because it's so pure and happy.

he brightens my day every time im with him.

cody is one of the most amazing people i know. his passion for people he loves and for God is amazing and im glad that he's one of my BEST friends. not only is he an amazing person on the inside, cody happens to be one of the prettiest guys i know. i can't express to you how thankful i am for the friends that God has blessed me with, especially cody.

meghan's graduating!

so i've been blessed enough to have known meghan for....ever basically. ha.

her mom used to work in the office for girls meetings at my church when i was really young.

but now, meghan is all grown up, and seriously, i couldn't be more blessed to call her my friend. God has such a true anointing and calling in her life, and He has blessed her with amazing beauty and discernment. it was an honor for me just to be asked to shoot her senior pictures.

she is beautiful, and i plan to use some of the images for my portrait class portfolio.

i'm so blessed to have such amazingly beautiful friends, i don't even need to ask for models.

congratulations to meghan, i'm so proud of your accomplishments through high school and i can't wait to see what great things God will do through you at iHop and after that.

for thanksgiving we always get together with my mom's side of the family.

all seven of us cousins are fairly close in age and we all grew up together. zack, anthony and i were always called the triplets, because two weeks after i was born, zack was born, and three weeks after that, anthony was born. so us, the three oldest (the three in the middle, zack left, anthony right) are all now in college. jake, in the brown is a senior in high school, josiah and austin (from the left) are both sophomores, and blake, the only other girl, is a freshman.

it's a pretty big deal when we ALL get the chance to be together anymore. since were all so busy now, and we all scattered all over the state. i acctually think the last time i saw them all at the same time was last christmas?

woo. yay for being together again.

so i recently decided to start watermarking my images. i mean. i've been wanting to for a long time. just for my sake, but i've been super picky about what font and such to use as a watermark.

after thinking about it for a while i realized that i wanted it to be graffiti.

not just any graffiti though, my brothers graffiti. so we talked, came up with the colors, and he hand designed my watermark in a few hours.

i then scanned it took it into photoshop did a lot of masking and finally figured out how to make it work.

the end result makes me really happy, its just really special to me, because its my brothers art, and my art put together into one. :)

the picture i decided to test my new watermark on is my Fine Arts 08 photo.

RCC asked for my press release again last week, and bit more information about my award at National FA so the picture was brought back up in my memory. this is possibly one of my favorite pictures i've ever taken, even if there was no award.

this is silly. i know. but i've really had a thing for video editing lately.

...well. actually i've had a thing for video editing for a few years. when i was in high school i worked for the media department at Calvary Church. i did a lot of video editing while working there which started my addiction. so im a sucker for youtube, as you can guess. anyone that can edit video really well makes my heart happy. like Parker Severns. his work has really inspired me, like, for real. he did go to school for directing though, knows tons of actors, and a lot of the time they right and sing their own silly music. pretty awesome.

anyway... my friends and i saw some videos, decided to re-form the ideas, and make an opener for the one of the youth groups (Fluid Student Ministries) that we work at.

of course this is really silly. but we love it. and the kids we work with really enjoy it as well.

im working on another one thats more sound effects that people are making, rather than words. but thats been a lot more difficult, trying to make a beat out of silly sounds. hopefully that one will be up soon.

so be my friend on youtube (cappsthief)! ill have more stuff up soon. i want to get in the habit of having new videos every month, if possible. :)

for our digital class we had to put together a pano.

when we got the assignment i automatically got this idea.

i've been recently blessed with the opportunity to work with ricky proehl and youth pastors from almost five of the "mega youth groups" in greensboro. we've all decided to come together and work on making One Night where kids from all different churches can come together and unite as one body of believers.

ricky offered to frank (from OnFireYouth) to host this event and its been really awesome.

i asked ricky if i could come in and shoot his indoor football field and he was more than happy to let me come in and photograph.

in the past eight weeks of classes we took object lighting. for our portfolio stuff we were allowed to pick two images that weren't required. for fun i decided i wanted to do a product shot. since everyone is "going green" right now i decided i wanted to shoot a green product and since my mom cleans houses i figured it would be nice shoot a product that would be good for, and help benefit her. so i decided to do a clorox, green works pro-mo.

i was pretty happy with the finished product. the lighting set up was crazy, but the colors make me really happy. yay. green works. :)

mini camp

this up coming weekend is fine arts mini boot camp at Calvary Church, in greensboro.

fine arts is an AG competition that i've been participating in since 2003. there is a district version of this competition and then a the national part is hosted in different cities every year. i dreamed up this crazy idea to do a promo banner for nationals this year. every year at nationals they give you a t-shirt with the city and year on it, so i thought this would be a cool idea.

this weekend at mini camp, i and the other drama coaches will be drilling the kids on fine arts dramas all day saturday. we're pretty excited, and so are the youth. we can't wait to be back in full swing of drama season.

for fun i've been working on some older images that are much harder than this one that our teacher gave us just for the fun of it. i totally get sucked in when i work on these, though. i could be working on them for ever and not even know it. :)

so, friday was halloween. but even more exciting for my friends and i, is the saturday after halloween.

the taylor family, plus many helpful friends, put on a haunted woods for free every year in their back yard. that may sound pretty cheesy, but if you know they taylors, you know its not. they live on quite a bit of property in the middle-of-no-where stokesdale, nc. they spend at least a month building sets and getting props, lights, smoke machines, sound systems and much much more set up before they set anyone loose on the trail. this year, matt, daniel and i, with quite a few others dressed as zombies and stole the show.

we had around 200 people come out this year, which was a pretty large number.

we had a blast playing our parts, having full conversations in zombie with each other in the woods. it turned out really great this year.

we seriously can't wait to do it again.

on tuesday i went with some classmates to a John McCain rally in Fayetteville, NC.

we went partly for our photojourn class cause we get extra credit for going to any political rally, and partly because it was just an amazing experience.

it's so awesome being there. totally different than watching it on tv. just like nothing you could ever image. plus, just like we keep saying, it's amazing to be right in the middle of history being made.

this past saturday i got to help shoot a wedding with hannah spradley.

it was totally exciting. the couple was beautiful beyond belief, as was the bridal party which made for awesome pictures. God also really smiled on meghan and isaac and turned the weather from

awful to awesome in an hour making their outdoor wedding a totally success.

last tuesday was the international day of silent solidarity.

the day of silence is something i've been participating in since 2005 or so.

it's all in the name of life. this year i wore a piece of duck-tape over my mouth to help me keep my vow of silence since it's so hard sometimes to keep from talking.

the day was fairly successful. i know quite a few other people that did the same around here. it's always amazing to see people unite and stand for a cause together.
